The City Wears It First

Every time I stand here, I think about the city where I was just another young artist trying to fit in.

Back then, I wasn’t looking for perfume.

I was looking for a place to belong.

I admired the kids painting subway cars. The artists in the East Village. The people making things that didn’t look like anything else. I wanted to be part of that world, even if I didn’t know how yet.

New York had a way of convincing you that creativity wasn’t a career.

It was simply who you were.

The skyline has changed since then.

The streets haven’t.

They still reward people willing to make something different.

POP LINE wasn’t created to recreate those years.

It was created because of them.
